Actiu participates with outstanding activities at the new edition of Clerkenwell Design Week

MAY 2015 | 2 minutes

Actiu is preparing itself to participate in the new edition of the Clerkenwell Design Week 2015, the global benchmark for the most avant garde processes applied to architecture, design and products.

Rehabilitating disused underground spaces, reflecting on the new ways to build from flexible membranes or designing products with new materials are some of the topics covered in the various activities and conferences scheduled for next week at the Actiu Showroom in London, one of the most populated spaces during English design week. Following its slogan "Always on the move", Actiu has transferred its enthusiasm and proposes an attractive program of activities which will include some of the leading International experts in design, interior design and architecture, from the well known studios such as Gensler, the Architecture studio, Zaha Hadid, or the Heatherwick studio, to discover the latest advances in technology, materials, products and design spaces.

Three intense days at Actiu Showroom in London, located at 28, Seward Street Clerkenwell, to add expertise to this huge laboratory of trends that is Clerkenwell Design Week. On Tuesday May 19, from 6.30-8pm, Gensler, winner of the best conceptual project for the London Underground, will offer his views on the future of this infrastructure to understand how London could regenerate disused underground spaces and infrastructure over a new dynamic network of urban links.

On Wednesday 20, from 18:20 to 18:30 Jose Garcia, Actiu will explain the essence of the company through the campaign "Actiu, Always on the move". Then Roberto Garcia, architect at RGN Architecture and Manuel Jimenez, director of MADM Design will carry out their presentation based on flexible membranes as a result of an ongoing dialogue between the digital and analog experimentation facilities. They will follow the conference, in the format of Elevator Pitch by Gilles Retsin, director of the Retsin Studio from Bartlett Architecture University, specializing in the behaviour of materials in architecture; Johanna Huang from the Study of Architecture; Zaha Hadid, who will talk about how to design products using innovative materials; Jorge X.Mendez-Caceres, architect from the Heatherwick Studio, who will talk along with Drew Merkle, from the studio Zaha Hadid, on seeking to develop from the atelier of contemporary design mEmE, to staking out new working methods in design and advanced geometry involving parametric construction and technical design. The afternoon will be closed by Niccolo Casas, director of Niccolo Houses Architecture, who will show the amazing applications of technology, in this case 3D, to the world of furniture and fashion.

On Thursday 21st, from 5-7pm, there will be an afternoon dedicated to enjoying Spanish wine and tapas, to celebrate the recently awarded Red Dot and IF Design Awards for the Wing chair and  to get to know the new products Badminton and Longo.
