Well-being and sustainability come together in London

Well-being and sustainability come together in London

NOVEMBER 2021 | 3 minutes

The emotions of art, the sustainability of materials and the values of design have come together at the stand with which Actiu has shown its values and its new solutions at the Workspace Design Show, the exhibition in the United Kingdom dedicated to the design of workspaces, which has brought together specialised companies, architects, designers and manufacturers.

Well-being and sustainability have been the leitmotif of the proposal that Actiu has put on display in London for flexible and efficient work and hospitality spaces, two principles already applied at the Actiu Technology Park, which is Leed and Well Platinum certified. Solutions that seek to reduce their environmental impact while also adding value based on the collaboration between people and technologies, optimising each square metre.

Thus, at Actiu's A32 stand, art and design have been the common themes of a space that has had the creative sensibility of Antonyo Marest through an artistic performance in line with the brand's philosophy and closely aligned with the event's motto: “Re-designing the future of commercial interiors together”.

An imposing mural, in which the tones coexist with natural motifs and with elements inspired by Actiu, which has been part of a stand with the brand's latest proposals, among which are the Agile collection and the new, soon to be launched Fluit chair.

Designed by Archirivolto Design, Fluit is an example of the circular economy principle that governs all of Actiu's work. A multipurpose chair that is capable of adapting to different corporate and hospitality environments thanks to its light and robust structure as well as its simple and fluid design.

The Agile collection, in turn, combines functional design elements that allow any environment to be adapted to day-to-day needs and that provide companies with tools to ensure the space can adapt to each task at hand, at all times. Tiers, auxiliary tables, Caddy 500 and decorative acoustic panels, whose interior foam, are generated from recycled PET plastic, are some of these solutions.

Versatile proposals, which are joined by the Noom armchairs and the Talent height-adjustable table, finalist at the 2021 Design Awards of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Solutions that seek to add value based on the collaboration between both people and technology, such as the Gaia smart platform, which has demonstrated its potential in situ for improving the well-being of people in the workplace, an essential factor for developing talent and creativity.

This creativity linked to design has been present in an expressive composition in which the Badminton armchair and the Fluit chairs have contributed their unique image to the set of proposals, enhancing the unique presence of these pieces of furniture. This is the second collaboration between Actiu and Marest, after a first collaboration in 2018 that revealed the symbiosis between the force of art and design innovation, through an artistic performance in which the furniture was integrated into the composition.

“My work is inspired by narrative abstract art: telling stories behind the pantones. Colour is the essence of the Mediterranean. Few places in Europe have the power of the sun and light like Spain has. Colour is eye-catching and the fact that you can speak through a colour is magic”, said the artist.

According to the artist, the artistic creation shown this year at stand A32 at the London Business Design Centre, across from the event's conference space, “is a call for attention and desire” that “breaks down barriers, status and generations” and is designed as a space for diversity.
