WING, imagination dedicated to the service of innovation

WING, imagination dedicated to the service of innovation

NOVEMBER 2015 | 2 minutes

The imagination of its designers, Ramos & Bassols, took the traditional wooden chair designed to be manufactured and added the most technical advances, both in manufacturing and materials. The result is a product distinguished by two of the most prestigious international design awards: IF Design and Red Dot.

Wing is light, creative and colourful

Wing is the technological evolution of a 'classic'. It is made entirely of polypropylene with fibre glass using gas injection, the  result is pieces in which we achieve extra compactness, an important reduction in weight and fewer deformations. A light chair of 4 kg, easy to transport and stackable, which is also offered in a comfortable, cushioned version thanks to the possibility of adapting upholsteries.

With a vintage style design and thanks to its materials, Wing is useful for any environment, both interior and exterior. With a well proportioned and balanced shape, robust and stable, with comfortable geometry and an surround back, Wing brings us back to traditional seats, but in a fusion of technology and tradition. Without doubt, a design that suits many spaces and meets all the aesthetics of the new trends in contract furniture, in design, colour, finish and accessories.

So much so, that Wing has obtained, amongst participants from more than 50 countries, the prestigious IF Design Award 2015, one of the most valued and important awards at International level, a mark of quality recognised worldwide. Some independent design awards which represent excellence and quality in design and considered one of the most desired awards at International level.

Awards that share prestige with Red Dot, granted by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany and that has also been awarded to Wing for its excellent design. In this case, all the winners, were presented within a four week period at a special exhibition and became part of the Red Dot Museum for a year. The museum is an industrial building from the first part of the XX century, which has been redesigned by the British architect Norman Foster to convert it into the Red Dot Museum. A great exhibition of 4.000 m2, which houses 1.500 design pieces which receive more than 140.000 visitors every year.

These awards represent the worthwhile confirmation for Actiu to continue looking for more efficient, sustainable and innovative manufacturing methods. “We are working hard to design and develop products which adapt themselves to the trends of the market, trying to combine quality, innovation, design and ergonomics. It is a big boost to receive this type of recognition, so prestigious at International level, to continue working this way”, explained Vicente Berbegal, president and founder of Actiu.
